An air compressor is a reservoir that uses a pump to force air into it compressing the air and allow tools like an air impact wrench, air rachet wrench, air hammer, and air drill to attach to it and work using the force of the compressed air being released into the tools. The air compressor will automatically switch off when it reaches its maximum pressure preventing the air compressor from exploding. The air compressor has a valve on the bottom to allow moisture that builds up from the air being compressed to be released and prevent corrosion. If you are using the air compressor to clean equipment, you need to wear hearing protection and browguard to prevent anything from flying into your face and eyes. If you're using it to plug into tools, you need to wear hearing protection safety glasses to stop anything flying into your eyes. Air compressors aren't particularly tricky to use, once you know how the basics work, it can be very easy. Air compressors aren't only used for putting air into tires, they have lots of uses like using it to connect to air tools around the workshop or to connect to cleaning tools, and so on. I believe that portable petrol injected air compressors are the most useful for a tradie as he can use it anywhere without worrying about mains power or battery power.
Hi Ryan
ReplyDeleteI'm the Secondary Specialist for Manaiakalani. Well done on this blog post 👍.
I found it really informative especially for someone who knows very little about air compressors. Are they tricky things to use? What air compressors mostly used for? I can only imagine they might be used to put air into tyres.
What would you use one for? Do you think its an essential part of a trades toolkit or would you just hire one when you need to?
Looking forward to learning more from you 😉
I've updated my blog answering your questions. I hope it helps.
DeleteThanks Ryan, that does give me a better understanding about why you would use an air compressor.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your first project this year in Engineering? I suppose you might use an air compressor then?
Hi Ryan, I like that you have involved pictures to show different air compressors, with the danger warning as well. I think next time that you could maybe have more paragraph instead of one big paragraph to make it easier to read.
ReplyDeleteOverall 7 out of 10
Thanks Kayne, I'll make sure to sapce out my paragragh next time to make it easier to view.
DeleteHi Ryan
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen a very useful and versatile piece of equipment that is so important in our everyday lives. I suggest you continue to expand your knowledge of compressors. They are also present in refrigerators/freezers and play an important role in buses and trucks.
Can you elaborate on the part they play in these?
Hi Ryan I like how you go into depth on your blog. and like how you put the danger sign in your post. I rate your blog 7 out of 10.
